Israel eavesdropping on Iran nuclear talks: Analyst

Press TV has conducted an interview with Nader Bagherzadeh, a political commentator based in Irvine, to get his take on Washington’s use of war rhetoric against Iran.

Press TV: What implications would such rhetoric have on the nuclear talks do you think?

Bagherzadeh: There are concerns from some groups in Iran that this will definitely jeopardize the agreement and discussions. But we have to understand that there is the war party that is pushing the White House administration, although they don’t want a war with Iran, they have to continue with that rhetoric that all options are on the table. But this will continue until the agreement, I hope that after the agreement, once it is made, there will be no more discussions about all options being on the table. I would say that would be not a very good choice.

Press TV: But what kind of an image will this show of Washington especially among the P5+1 group?

Bagherzadeh: Washington has not changed its position on all options on the table and we do not see the other major players of the P5+1 complaining about that. Even the Russians are not saying anything about that so therefore they are going along with that rhetoric. But... there are groups in Washington that want the White House to continue with that pretext; they don’t want that to be changed... many of them have to do with the war party and different organizations and so on.

But I’m hoping this would change. In fact right now as you said it is not a very positive especially for certain groups in Iran.

Press TV: What role Israel is playing in these talks, considering that it is an outside player of these talks?

Bagherzadeh: Yes, we have seen all along that many of the details have been shared with the Israeli [regime], and their input is not just to United States, the French have a lot of interaction with them, we saw it in the first Geneva agreement in 2013. Where they put pressure in the development for the future of the Arak reactor. So they are not at the negotiation table but they are eavesdropping on the discussions. This is very unfortunate of course.
