US political elite desperate to suppress truth: Former US Senate candidate

The political elite in the United States are in a state of “crisis” and “desperation” to suppress true information from reaching the American people.

The political elite in the United States are in a state of “crisis” and “desperation” to suppress true information from reaching the American people, a former US Senate candidate says.

“The actions of our own government in the last 15 years, both in this country as well as abroad, is going to lead to a situation where the American power elite is going to become increasingly desperate in its attempts to keep the lid on information that doesn't want disseminated,” said Mark Dankof, who is also a broadcaster and pastor in San Antonio, Texas.

"There’s a real crisis in regard to this power elite in the United States in terms of its ability to continue bringing forth propaganda, both in this country as well as around the world, in regard to its actions and motives,” Dankof told Press TV on Saturday.

He made the comments following an incident on Thursday at the United Nations, where the US ambassador at the UN ordered the sound engineer to shut off the microphone while the North Korean representative was pointing out the horrible US human rights record.

During a staged event at the UN featuring some of the US government's favorite “dissidents” from North Korea, Pyongyang diplomat Ri Song Chol demanded an opportunity to rebut.

However, he was told he would have to wait until the presentation by the US ambassador's chosen panel was over for the question and answer session to follow.

When Ri Song Chol attempted to speak, Samantha Power, whose country always lectures North Korea on human rights, ordered UN staff to turn off the North Korean envoy's microphone and security guards were dispatched to the conference room at UN headquarters.

The three diplomats from North Korea then stood up and left the room telling reporters that they were denied the opportunity to speak as a UN member-state.

“This reveals the desperation of the American political elite, a desperation that is being shown on Ms. Power’s actions,” Dankof said. “It’s an absolute embarrassment, but it does reveal the absolute desperation that she feels and the people who are handling her feel.”
