Press TV has conducted an interview with Hafsa Kara-Mustapha, a London-based political analyst and journalist, to discuss Saudi Arabia’s aggression against Yemen.

The following is a rough transcription of the interview.

Press TV: The Yemeni army spokesman believes that the attacks carried out against Yemen were machinated by Saudi Arabia alone. Please tell us more about these comments.

Kara-Mustapha: I think that is a given really, the idea that this could be a coalition of Arab countries, looking to bomb a fellow Arab country is a myth and is part of a propaganda used by Saudis to actually sell the war and give it some sort of seal of approval... Across the Arab world, Arabs are appalled that we are seeing bomber planes take off and destroy infrastructure, and kill civilians in the name of some sort of Arab unity, while the same people did not lift a finger when Palestinians were being killed on a daily basis. So the idea that this is some sort of Arab coalition that has the approval of the Arab world is absolutely preposterous, and simply part of the propaganda machine that is basically the Saudi technique.

Press TV: The army spokesman also said that Yemen has been targeted more than 3,100 times over the past month or so with many women and children suffering the brunt of the attacks. What about the issue of accountability for the death and destruction that was left behind in Yemen as a result of the attacks?

Kara-Mustapha: That really comes down to the dire situation in which the Arab world is in but also the wider international community. Who is going to hold Saudi Arabia to account? The UN that has actually punished the Houthis and imposed an embargo on them so that they cannot get armed in order to defend themselves? - an organization that is basically serving US interests and the US we know is very much part of the alliance of Saudi Arabia. Would it be the Arab League who has been corrupted and bribed into agreeing to this attack? So unfortunately, at the end of the day no one is going to be held to account, simply because there are no international institutions that can actually carry out the request of Saudi accountability.
