Arab minorities in the Israeli-occupied lands have staged a strike to protest against the Tel Aviv regime’s destruction of Arab homes.
According to reports, shops, schools, colleges, banks and public institutions were closed in the Arab towns in the northern part of the occupied Palestinian lands on Tuesday.
According to the Higher Arab Monitoring Committee, which represents the Arab community in Israel, the strike was in reaction to soaring racism and the growing wave of house demolitions by Tel Aviv.
“This strike is a response to the increased action by the Israeli authorities against Arab homes and the ongoing harsh policy of incitement to hatred against Arabs which was launched by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu during the elections,” the committee said.
Netanyahu won Israel’s parliamentary elections in March. Prior to the vote, the premier had called on right-wing Israelis to turn out massively in the polls as the Arab community would take part “in droves.”
Meanwhile, a rally was also organized in Tel Aviv in protest at the demolition of Arab homes.
Arabs account for about 20 percent of the population in Israel.
The Tel Aviv regime has stepped up destroying Arab homes in northern and central Israel as well as in the southern Negev desert.
