US foreign policy is designed to crush all opposition: Analyst

The foreign policy of the United States is “brutal and relentless” and is the architect of the globe’s worst terror campaign.

The foreign policy of the United States is “brutal and relentless” and is the architect of the globe’s worst terror campaign,” a human rights activist and political commentator in New York City says.

“The US foreign policy is designed to crush all opposition,” said Mickey Z., who is also a writer, editor and blogger.

The American people must challenge the entire military system of the US, Mickey Z. told Press TV on Monday.

“The US department of so-called defense eats up about half of US federal tax dollars; it is the planet’s worst polluter and I would argue it’s also the architect of the planet’s worst terror campaign,” he added.

He made the comments following a new report that President Barack Obama tightened rules for the US drone program in 2013 to reduce the risk of civilian casualties, but the rules exempted the CIA from this standard in Pakistan.

Obama secretly approved a waiver giving the CIA more flexibility in Pakistan than anywhere else to strike suspected militants, the Wall Street Journal reported Sunday, current and former US officials.

Obama also required that proposed targets pose an imminent threat to the US, the report said.

The report was released at a time when the president has come under criticism following the death of an American and Italian hostage by CIA drone strikes in Pakistan.

American Warren Weinstein, 73, and Italian Giovanni Lo Porto, 39, were accidentally killed during a CIA drone strike against an al-Qaeda compound near the Pakistan-Afghanistan border.

The intelligence that directed the drone strike turned out to have been tragically incorrect, US officials and lawmakers said Thursday.

Their deaths have created the biggest crisis yet for the Obama administration’s controversial program--a central part of US “counterterrorism strategy” which has provoked a strong backlash in the countries where drones have been used, from Pakistan to Yemen.

Critics say the incident highlights the troubling reality about the secret drone attacks that often result in civilian casualties because of the uncertainties about who is being targeted.
