Press TV has conducted an interview with Redwan Rizk, political commentator in Beirut, to discuss the situation in Yemen.

The following is a rough transcription of the interview.

Press TV: The Saudis essentially stopped the success of the political process in Yemen. Your take on the matter, please.

Rizk: This proves that the Saudis are interfering with the internal political life in Yemen, and they are just trying to impose their influence on the Yemeni groups. That shows that the Saudis are involved in the conspiracy against Yemen, because the Yemenis were about to reach a deal among them and they solved most of their internal problems and they could have formed a national government that would put an end to this agony of the Yemeni people.

The Saudi step is to drag Yemen into the swamp of a civil war or an internal war and … if they keep on bombing Yemen and attacking Yemen and supporting some of the Yemenis, like Abd Rabbuh Mansur Hadi, that could lead to catastrophe of the Yemeni situation, and that would shake the stability of this country and could lead somehow maybe to partitioning of the country.

So the Saudis do have their own agendas, and now it is coming from a very high official from the United Nations, who is like Benomar. And this is another black point to be added to the record of the Saudis’ political deals. It is so obvious that they are involved directly in backing all terrorist groups. They are supporting some sort of fundamentalist groups in Syria, in Lebanon, now in Yemen. They are behind spreading the al-Qaeda and other groups.

At the end the question is, ‘what is the role of the Saudis?’ This is a very important question to be asked because now it is not a matter of dealing with neighbors like Yemen or elsewhere. It is a matter that this family and this government or this kingdom is involved with its allies, and the best ally is Israel, … shattering the Arab world, pushing the Arab people into civil wars, into endless wars among each other and that could lead to disasters in the next years.

All is providing lots of comfort and stability for the Israelis, and liberating Palestine is vanishing away, because every Arab country is drowned into its conflicts.
