1. The Nepalese government has declared a state of emergency after a 7.8 magnitude quake struck the country, leaving a trail of deaths and destruction. The information minister has confirmed the death of over 1,450 people. There were also dozens of victims in India, Bangladesh and Tibet as tremors were felt across the region.

2. Nations around the world have reacted to the deadly quake that rocked Nepal on Saturday. Iran, Russia, France and China have offered condolences to the victims. The US says it is sending a disaster response team, allocating one million dollars in initial aid. India has also dispatched an aid cargo.

3. Saudi warplanes have conducted dozens of airstrikes against several Yemeni cities as fighting rages on between Ansarullah fighters and supporters of fugitive former president Abd Rabbuh Mansur Hadi. Riyadh began its aggression against its impoverished neighbor on Mach 26.

4. Israeli forces have clashed with Palestinians protesting against the killing of a teenager in East Jerusalem al-Quds. The Israeli army fatally shot the 17-year-old boy, claiming he was trying to attack officers at checkpoint. Earlier, Israeli forces shot dead a Palestinian man in the West Bank city of al-Khalil.

5. In South Korea, demonstrators have staged an anti-government rally for the second straight day. Thousands of protesters marched in the capital Seoul to show anger at government's labor policies and its handling of last year’s ferry disaster that left over 300 people dead.

6. The UN is to host a new round of talks among Syria's rival sides next month in another bid to end more than 4 years of conflict. UN spokesman Ahmad Fawzi says the discussions will kick off in Geneva on May 4th and would last between four and six weeks.

7. A former Turkish prosecutor says he's facing life in prison for retweeting a link to a leaked tape that implicates President Recep Tayyip Erdogan in corruption. Gultekin Avci says he’s been charged with establishing a terrorist organization and attempting to overthrow the government.

8. A militia shelling in eastern Ukraine has left at least one soldier dead. The military says the militia opened fire on National Guard forces at Shyrokyne. That’s a village to the east of the southeastern port city of Mariupol. Sporadic clashes have been ongoing despite a ceasefire there.
