Work on drafting final Iran N-deal begins: Official

Iranian Foreign Ministry's Director General for Political Affairs, Hamid Baeidinejad

A senior Iranian nuclear negotiator says work on drafting the final agreement between the Islamic Republic and six major powers over Tehran’s nuclear energy program has just begun.

“We started the reviews on Wednesday morning, and there was a meeting between [Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister for Legal and International Affairs Seyyed Abbas] Araqchi, [Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister for European and American Affairs Majid Takht-e] Ravanchi and EU Deputy Foreign Policy Chief Helga Schmid in the evening,” Iranian Foreign Ministry's Director General for Political Affairs Hamid Baeidinejad told IRIB late on Wednesday.

He added that another meeting was also held at expert level on Wednesday, and work on drafting the final nuclear accord between Iran and the five permanent members of the UN Security Council – the United States, Britain, France, Russia and China – plus Germany has actually kicked off.

Commenting on the removal of anti-Iran sanctions, Baeidinejad stated that negotiations over the bans must be partly narrowed down, and it must be clarified in details how sanctions against Tehran will be abolished.

The top Iranian diplomat underlined that such issues form the cornerstone of the ongoing talks in the Austrian capital, Vienna, and Iran expects quick elaboration on them.

The new round of the talks between representatives of Iran and the six powers in Austria are set to last three days and are part of efforts for drafting a nuclear accord.

The two sides issued a joint statement outlining the parameters of a Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) over the Islamic Republic’s nuclear program in Switzerland on April 2.
