At least 27 people have been killed in Saudi air strikes on a market place and residential areas in the city of Haraz in Yemen’s northwestern Hajjah Province.

At least 133 others were also injured in the attacks, with more casualties feared, the Yemen-based Arabic-language Watten news agency reported on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, Yemen’s Harbipress website reported that seven people lost their lives and 63 others were injured after Saudi warplanes carried out two other strikes against a restaurant and a hotel in Haraz.

In a separate incident, al-Qaeda-affiliated militants shot dead 15 Yemeni soldiers who were heading toward Marib Province from Hadramout Province aboard three buses.

Some 17 others were also wounded in the incident, which occurred near Safer oil company.

On Monday, Saudi airstrikes targeted a missile depot in the Faj Attan district in the mountainous outskirts of the Yemeni capital city of Sana’a, causing huge damage to the area. Witnesses said a number of residents have sustained injuries in the airstrikes.

Saudi Arabia’s air campaign against Yemen started on March 26 - without a UN mandate - in a bid to restore power to the country’s fugitive former President Abd Rabbuh Mansur Hadi, a staunch ally of Riyadh.

According to reports, more than 2,700 people, including women and children, have so far lost their lives in the attacks.
