Palestinian people in Bilin organized a protest to mark April 17, the Palestinian Prisoners' Day. The protest was held in coordination with the Popular Resistance Committees in memory of the Palestinians kept in Israeli prisons.

Carrying posters of the Palestinian Member of Parliament Khaleda Jarrar, the protesters marched toward the military gate that is built on Bilin’s lands. Israeli forces fired tear gas canisters and rubber bullets to disperse the protesters. Despite that, the Palestinians marched on with calls for the international community to step in and allow international humanitarian law to be set on this situation.

The protest was organized in occupied Bilin, as the Palestinians symbolized the struggle of this village against the Israeli atrocities. They say this is the land they will continue their struggle on despite the superior weapons being used by the Israeli military.

Each year on April 17, Palestinians take to the streets to express solidarity with prisoners languishing in Israeli jails. On the Prisoners’ Day, people renew their pledge that they will never forget their imprisoned brothers and sisters and pray that one day they will rejoice their freedom together.
