Saudi Arabia committing genocide in Yemen: Analyst

Press TV has conducted an interview with Professor Rodney Shakespeare, a London-based political analyst, to ask for his take on Saudi Arabia’s military campaign against the Yemeni nation.

Shakespeare says what the Riyadh regime does in Yemen is very similar to the “creeping genocide” that Israel has conducted against Palestinians in Gaza. Starting with a military strike to kill civilians, the Saudis will then proceed to target the infrastructure and finish with putting a blockade on the country, he adds.

The analyst slams Washington for claiming that Saudi Arabia is protecting democracy in Yemen, while millions of Yemenis are under constant attacks and will soon be left to starve in a blockade. He further argues that the siege has already begun as Saudis do not allow medicine and other commodities into the impoverished country.

Referring to Washington’s support for Riyadh’s war on Yemen, Shakespeare says both the United States and Saudi Arabia are responsible for the ongoing genocide in the Arab state and their “atrocious” crimes must not go unnoticed.
