Boehner 'represents neocon Zionists': Analyst

The leader of the US House of Representatives represents neoconservative Zionists and the military-industrial complex, a geopolitical commentator in Missouri says.

US House Speaker John Boehner is “representing neocon faction, these pro-Israeli war hawks, they’re good buddies with the defense contractors and big oil companies,” Dean Henderson said.

America’s foreign policy and military interventions in the Middle East have been a “total disaster,” Henderson told Press TV on Wednesday.

“Hopefully what we’re seeing here is a little bit of a pullback by the Obama administration from this reckless, crazy foreign policy that feeds these defense contractors and basically helps Israel,” he said.

Henderson made the comments after Boehner said on Tuesday that he believes the Obama administration should give the US military a larger role to help Iraqi military forces fight ISIL.

"I think the president is placing artificial constraints on our commanders," Boehner told reporters at a roundtable to discuss his recent trip to the Middle East. "We've got 4,500 troops in Iraq. They're only there to train and advise the Iraqi army."

The speaker, a frequent critic of Obama's policies, said it would be "virtually impossible" to pass the authorization that the White House sent to Congress to fight ISIL, who have captured parts of Iraq and Syria.

The White House sent a draft resolution to Capitol Hill in February that would limit the president's authority to wage a military campaign against ISIL. The authorization would ban deploying US combat troops and limit military operations to three years.
