US police brutality ‘incremental genocide’ against blacks: Historian

American researcher and historian Dr. Randy Short says the “police brutality” against the black people in the United States is actually “incremental genocide” to get rid of them.

An American researcher and historian says the “police brutality” against the black people in the United States is actually “incremental genocide” to get rid of African-Americans.

Commenting on the ongoing protests against police brutality against African-Americans, Dr. Randy Short said that police brutality is a form of “incremental genocide” against the black people.

On Tuesday, mass protests were held in several US cities over police brutality against African-Americans and other minorities, leading to arrests of dozens of people.

“The protest… that took place in 14 cities yesterday and will continue is in reaction to incremental genocide,” Dr. Short told Press TV in a phone interview on Wednesday.

“Since getting up to 2015, there have been as many as three to four [daily] shootings where police have killed black fugitives. So it’s now already in the hundreds. It’s well past 200 to 300 people now,” said Dr. Short, a member of the Black Autonomy Network Community Organization.

“It’s genocide,” he emphasized.

Dr. Short said that “some people are getting tired of it [police brutality], and the government has refused to step up the plate.”

According to the analyst, even “the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights realizes that apartheid exists in the United States.”

The police killings of a large number of African-Americans have sparked a national debate on race and led to mass street protests across the United States over police harassment and mistreatment of minorities.

“A lot of people are in the streets because they are afraid [that] if we don’t get a handle on this we are going to begin to see mass killings” of African-Americans in the United States, he stated.

Quoting a Washington Post report, the American historian said that “between 2005 and 2015 thousands and thousands of people have been shot” by police in America, but “only 54 policemen have faced any real charges.”

“It’s genocide,” he reiterated.

“The police departments are infiltrated by the racists from the Ku Klux Klan, the Neo-Nazis, Christian Identity, as well as veterans, who are crazed, who are on psychotherapeutic drugs, who cut their teeth murdering Muslims in Iraq and Afghanistan as well as people who are mercenaries, who have been contractors, who kill people on other places,” Dr. Short pointed out.

“All these chickens are coming home to roost,” he noted.

“We had been at this juncture before in America. Typically, when America had wars, they used racism and propaganda to get people to kill. They trained people in the armed services to kill,” he stated.

“And then the people who’ve gotten used to killings come back, they get into law enforcement and they murder. And blacks are the softest targets because we don’t have human rights in the United States,” he observed.

Dr. Short concluded that “African-Americans need sovereignty, self-determination, and we need freedom” and “we really need a change in the power structure of this country or you’ll see perhaps a greater mass killing of African-Americans.”
