Israel turned Iran’s civilian nuclear work into ‘crisis’: American author

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu have turned Iran’s nuclear energy program into a “crisis," American author Ian Williams says.

Israel and its Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu have turned Iran’s civilian nuclear energy program into a “manufactured crisis," which has no military solution, an American author and political analyst says.

“It is quite clear there’s no military solution to the [nuclear] crisis, if it is a crisis,” said Ian Williams, a senior analyst at Foreign Policy in Focus, a policy think tank based in Washington, DC.

“In fact the crisis manufactured by Netanyahu and Israel,” Williams told Press TV on Tuesday.

Williams, the author of Tequila: A Global History, asked why Washington and the rest of the world should go to war with Iran, which has no nuclear weapons, on behalf of Israel, a regime with approximately 200 nuclear weapons that has not signed the nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT).

Iran and the P5+1 group of countries – the United States, Russia, China, France, Britain, and Germany - reached a mutual understanding on Tehran’s nuclear program on April 2 in Lausanne, Switzerland.

The two sides are expected to start drafting a final inclusive deal which they seek to sign by the end of June.

The Obama administration says that the best option for the US to deal with Iran is a diplomatic solution and a military strike would not stop the country’s nuclear program.

“There is no formula or option that will be more effective than the diplomatic track,” Undersecretary of State Wendy Sherman told Israeli media on Monday.

Last week, Netanyahu warned against an emerging final nuclear agreement, expressing concern over an immediate removal of anti-Iran sanctions.

The so-called Iran nuclear crisis is a “myth” and a “lie,” Dr. Kevin Barrett, an American scholar in Wisconsin, wrote in an article published by Press TV on April 6.

“That lie was meticulously constructed by neoconservative Zionists to serve their interests, according to their philosophy of governance, which worships big lies and views truth-speaking as dangerous to society,” Barrett wrote.
