Press TV has interviewed Danny Makki, a Middle East expert in London, and Jim Walsh, a research associate at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in Boston, to discuss the Saudi aggression against Yemen.

Makki says the Saudi kingdom has supported militant groups in the Middle East to overthrow governments in the region. He adds Riyadh paved the way for Al-Qaeda to take over half Yemen.

“Saudi Arabia is acting hand-in-hand with Al-Qaeda in Yemen,” the political expert argues, noting that Al-Qaeda terrorists benefit from the Saudi airstrikes against the impoverished country.

Saudi Arabia is attacking schools and hospitals in the name of striking the Houthi movement, and is, in fact, destroying Yemen under the pretext of ensuring stability in the Persian Gulf, he maintains.

The commentator goes on to say that through airstrikes, Saudi Arabia thinks it is sending a message to the world that it is acting in a strong way on Yemen, but in essence, it is creating more unrest, which will backfire on the Saudi kingdom in the near future.

Walsh, for his part, dismisses Riyadh's use of military strikes against Yemen, saying the Saudi invasion of the Arab country is wrong and that Saudi Arabia cannot achieve its objectives by air power alone.
