Israeli PM fears immediate removal of bans as per Iran’s demand

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has railed against an emerging final nuclear agreement between Iran and the P5+1 countries, expressing concern over an immediate removal of anti-Iran sanctions.

"We see that the sanctions are being lifted, immediately, according to Iran's demand, and this is without Iran having changed its policy of aggression everywhere," Netanyahu claimed  late Saturday.

Iran and the five permanent members of the UN Security Council – the US, Britain, France, Russia and China -- plus Germany along with officials from the European Union reached a mutual understanding on Tehran’s nuclear program after eight days of marathon talks in the Swiss city of Lausanne on April 2.

According to the statement, no Iranian nuclear facility will be shut down while all sanctions against the Islamic Republic will be terminated.

The two sides will now work on drawing up a final accord by the June 30 deadline.

Claiming that the mutual understanding reached in Switzerland gives Iran “a certain path to nuclear bombs,” Netanyahu stressed that a final nuclear agreement will leave Iran with "significant nuclear capabilities.”

"It [agreement] is not dismantling them, it is preserving them. We also see that the inspection is not serious," Netanyahu claimed.

Israel has constantly showed angry reaction to the landmark agreement between Iran and the six global powers, denouncing it as an "historic mistake".

Experts maintain that Israel’s ire is groundless as the International Atomic Energy Agency has repeatedly verified lack of any diversion toward non-peaceful purposes in Iran’s declared nuclear material.

Israel is widely believed to be the only possessor of nuclear arms in the Middle East. The regime reportedly maintains between 200 and 400 atomic warheads.

Furthermore, the Tel Aviv regime has never allowed any inspection of its nuclear facilities and continues to defy international calls to join the Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT).
