Moscow served as host city for the second round of talks between Syrian leadership and the country’s opposition. A joint statement was issued by negotiating parties on Friday. The parties agreed on an outcome document of 10 items of the agenda following the talks. One of the points calls on the international community to exert serious and immediate pressure on all regional and international actors that contribute to the bloodshed. It also urges the UN Security Council to adopt a resolution on the fight against terrorism, blocking extremists’ recruiting, funding and weapons supply routes to Syria.

Earlier on the day, the Syrian opposition leader said the conclusion is positive and the two sides have completed more than 50 percent of the tasks.

According to the meeting’s moderator, Vitaly Naumkin, the release of political prisoners in Damascus ahead of the consultations in Moscow confirms the government’s readiness to dialog with the opposition.

The reached agreement, called "Moscow platform" includes 10 points. The document is of a political nature and is addressed primarily to the international community, which must use all available leverage to force destructive conflict parties to stop the escalation. In addition, the agreement includes a call for lifting of the economic blockade of Syria.
