Iran Judiciary head praises nuclear negotiating team

Iran’s Judiciary Chief Ayatollah Sadeq Amoli Larijani

Iran’s Judiciary Chief Ayatollah Sadeq Amoli Larijani has hailed efforts by the Iranian negotiating team in nuclear talks with the P5+1 group in Switzerland.

“We thank and praise the nuclear negotiating team,” the Iranian Judiciary chief said, describing the talks on Iran's nuclear program as a key issue for the country and the world.

He appreciated the efforts by the Iranian negotiators to defend Iran’s right to nuclear energy and thanked them for acting based on the framework set by Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei.

Relying on the massive support of the Iranian nation and officials, the delegation should continue to defend the country’s nuclear right with true vigor, Amoli Larijani added.

He also extended especial gratitude to Iran’s Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif for his efforts during the talks, saying, “The nuclear negotiating team had a very demanding undertaking before it."

We should appreciate and support the efforts undertaken so that the negotiating team in the "critical and decisive" upcoming months can bring the talks to "a proper conclusion," he said.

He also noted that the nuclear negotiating team will enjoy the support of the Iranian nation and officials if they keep within the bounds of the assigned framework.

After eight days of marathon talks in Lausanne, Iran and the six-party group of Russia, China, France, Britain, the US and Germany, aka P5+1, issued a joint statement on April 2 on their mutual understanding over Tehran’s nuclear program.

According to the joint statement, none of Iran’s nuclear facilities will be stopped, shut down or suspended and Iran’s nuclear activities in all its nuclear facilities including Natanz, Fordow, Isfahan and Arak will continue.

Under the statement, all sanctions by the UN Security Council, the US and the EU against Iran will be lifted. Tehran will also implement the Additional Protocol temporarily and voluntarily in line with its confidence-building measures and after that the protocol will be ratified in a time frame by the Iranian government and parliament.

Iran and its negotiating partners are now expected to start work to draw up a final comprehensive deal over the Islamic Republic’s nuclear program by the end of the self-designated June 30 deadline.
