UK police have found the body of a Syrian cleric shot dead in his car in the British capital.

Abdul Hadi Arwani, who was in his late 40s, was found dead with gunshot wounds to his chest while sitting in his vehicle in a street in northwest London.

UK Police have launched an investigation to find possible links and clues which might help them catch the killer(s) of the former imam of  a mosque in west London, which is claimed to host hate-preachers.

Arwani who had studied Shariah in Jordan was a lecturer at several religious seminaries in the British city of Slough and also London and was regarded as an expert on marriage contracts and divorce law.

The Syrian-born preacher was said to be an open critic of the Syrian government with links to Takfiri militant groups.

Armed anti-government groups in Syria have been wreaking havoc there since 2011. The Takfiri militants have spread their terror campaign to Iraq and other countries as well, even to European countries, killing innocent people and carrying out horrendous acts of terror.
