Press TV has conducted an interview with Dimitry Linnik, a former chief of Voice of Russia based in London, to get his views on the ceasefire between Russia and Ukraine.

Linnik says there has never been a real ceasefire between the two countries and the tensions have only subsided compared to previous weeks. He said  last week alone, about 71 civilians were killed in Ukrainian army shelling of eastern Ukraine, which is a sign of how precarious the situation really is.

He noted that there are circles pushing for the resumption of hostilities, an example of which is the UK government which has been delivering armored vehicles to Ukraine over the past few weeks. The United States has also fanned the flames of tensions by delivering a certain amount of equipment to Kiev, Linnik says.

He concludes his views by saying that even Ukraine itself is not really committed to a lasting ceasefire because it is holding joint military exercises with NATO.
