US Drug Enforcement Administration agents had "sex parties" funded by local drug cartels, an agency internal watchdog says.

The Justice Department's Office of the Inspector General said in a Thursday report that for over several years the agents indulged in sex parties in which prostitutes were also present.

The report, which did not disclose where the parties were held, originates from a review of misconduct allegations against some American drug agents in Colombia.

“The foreign officer allegedly arranged “sex parties” with prostitutes funded by the local drug cartels for these DEA agents at their government-leased quarters, over a period of several years,” the report read.

Those interviewed by the watchdog said the agents “solicited prostitutes and engaged in other serious misconduct” while they were on duty overseas, according to the report.

One of the unnamed agents “frequented a prostitution establishment while in their overseas assignment and often took agents serving on temporary duty to this establishment and facilitated sexual encounters there.”

“Ultimately, 7 of the 10 agents admitted attending parties with prostitutes while they were stationed,” the report said, adding they were suspended for between two and 10 days.

The new announcement is the outcome of investigations into allegations of sexual harassment and sexual misconduct between October 2008 and September 2012.
