Five Dutch citizens have been arrested by Turkish security forces while trying to illegally cross from Turkey into Syria, apparently to join the ranks of ISIL Takfiri terrorists.

The Dutch nationals, whose names have not been disclosed, were detained by the Turkish Army Border Command on Saturday, the Turkish army announced in a statement released on Sunday.

According to the statement, 92 Syrian citizens were also caught as they were trying to enter Turkey.

Thousands of foreigners have joined the ISIL and other terror groups in Syria and Iraq, many of them crossing through Turkey.

Turkey stands accused of providing logistical support for the ISIL terrorists and enabling their passage through its soil. Ankara is known as a staunch supporter of the ISIL which fights the governments of Syria and Iraq.

The ISIL terrorist group, with members from several Western countries, controls parts of Syria and Iraq, and has been carrying out horrific acts of violence such as public decapitations and crucifixions against all communities such as Shias, Sunnis, Kurds and Christians.
