No Iran-P5+1 tentative nuclear deal: Source

A senior Iranian nuclear negotiator has dismissed Western media allegations of a tentative deal on Iran's nuclear program, saying no agreement has yet been reached between Iran and the P5+1 global powers.

“No agreement has been reached yet and some issues still remain to be resolved,” the Iranian diplomat said on Sunday.

He called on other negotiating sides to “abandon their excessive demands and make their strategic decision on whether they want an agreement or pressure.”

Western media on Sunday quoted diplomats as saying that Iran and six world powers have reached tentative agreement on key parts of a deal sharply curtailing Tehran's nuclear program.

One of these diplomats in the ongoing talks between Iran and the six countries in the Swiss city of Lausanne said Tehran had "more or less" agreed to decrease the number of its centrifuge machines and to ship abroad most of its stockpile of nuclear material.

An Iranian official dismissed the report on the possibility of Tehran’s acceptance of new constraints on its uranium enrichment program during the ongoing sensitive talks in Lausanne.

The Iranian negotiator said the report included “inaccurate points including the shipment of uranium from Iran to Russia.”

“The release of such news by some Western media is in line with [media] hype aimed at derailing the trend of negotiations," the official said, describing the report as a "futile and unprofessional measure.”

Negotiations between Iran and P5+1 countries - the US, Britain, France, Russia and China plus Germany - over Tehran’s nuclear program have reached a critical stage ahead of a looming end-of-March deadline for reaching mutual understanding on all issues.
