Rouhani says Iran’s economy improving “day by day”

Iran’s President Hassan Rouhani said on Sunday that the country’s economic conditions are improving “day by day”.

Iran’s President Hassan Rouhani said on Sunday that the country’s economic conditions are improving “day by day”.

Rouhani said Iran has already pulled itself out of a multiple year economic stagnation during the last calendar year of 1393 that ended on 21 March 2015.

He emphasized that the country is set to proceed toward stronger economic improvements, but that still requires some time.

“I have no doubts that Iran will move toward prosperity during the current [calendar] year,” the president said during a visit to the southern city of Qeshm. “Everyone should try to help push Iran’s economy toward stronger prosperity”.

In late February, Rouhani said his economic team has done what he described as “a miracle” to bring the country from the brinks of economic collapse to the positive territory.

He had specifically lauded his economic team for managing to bring down inflation from 40 percent to well below 16 percent.

“There are still much that need to be done to reach the desirable economic conditions,” Rouhani told a meeting of local officials in Qeshm, as reported by IRNA.

This, he said, requires serious efforts that include encouraging industrial output, attracting new investments, promoting free trade zones, and supporting investors.

In early March, Rouhani called on his ministers to put serious efforts into the implementation of economic policies to materialize the country’s positive growth.

He emphasized that a positive economic growth would help provide solutions for maladies such as unemployment and poverty.
