US seeks to fuel Ukraine conflict: Analyst

Press TV has conducted an interview with James Jatras, a former US Senate foreign policy analyst in Washington, to discuss the Minsk ceasefire deal previously reached between the Kiev government and the pro-Russia forces operating in eastern Ukraine.

The political analyst believes that the United States and some hard-line elements within the Ukrainian government are seeking to fuel a confrontation with Moscow over the ongoing crisis across Ukraine’s mainly Russian-speaking regions.

Ukraine cannot win the conflict militarily as multiple attempts by the Kiev authorities to resolve the issue through military means have failed to bear result in recent months, Jatras point outs.

He says the US has also sought to reignite unrest through the transfer of lethal weapons to the Ukrainian military.

The analyst concludes by saying that Kiev should resist pressure by Washington and must turn the current truce into a viable solution by honoring its obligations.
