ISIL youngster shoots dead ‘Israeli spy’: Video

A still from the video purportedly showing the killing of Mohammed Musallam

A video released by the ISIL Takfiri terrorist group apparently shows a young militant shooting and killing an Israeli man, claimed by the group to be a spy for Israel’s spy agency Mossad.

The group released the 13-minute footage on Tuesday. The victim is shown in the video identifying himself as 19-year-old Mohamed Said Ismail Musallam and alleging how he was recruited by Israeli intelligence.

The video bore the hallmarks of the group’s previous videos, including its dressing of the victims in orange jumpsuits.

It showed two militants, one a young boy, standing behind the Israeli. The older militant is seen saying in French that the prisoner was sent by Mossad to spy on the group.

The boy is seen walking around in front of the hostage and then shooting him in the forehead using a pistol.

The victim’s father, Said Musallam, has said his son, an Israeli citizen, abandoned his service in the fire department to join the ISIL.

A spokesman for Israel's Shin Bet security service also told AFP that Mohamed had left home on October 24 "on his own initiative," implying that he had not been sent by Israel.

The Shin Bet spokesman said Mohamed travelled from Israel to Turkey and "from there crossed to Syria and joined IS (ISIL) to fight for the organization."

The so-called Dabiq magazine, purportedly published by the terrorist group, said on February 12 that the Takfiri militants had captured the 19-year-old, who had joined the ISIL in Syria to spy for Israel on the militant group’s weapons caches and bases.

It quoted Musallam as calling on all those who want to spy on the ISIL not to “think that you’re so smart and that you can deceive" the ISIL. "You won’t succeed at all.”

The execution video surfaced amid reports that the Tel Aviv regime is supporting the Takfiri militants.

The regime has carried out several airstrikes on Syrian forces fighting with the terrorist groups since the start of the nearly four-year-old foreign-sponsored militancy in Syria.

On January 26, Syrian President Bashar al-Assad said that the Israeli military was obviously supporting the terrorist groups in Syria by conducting airstrikes in the crisis-hit country.

“Whenever we make advances in some place, they (the Israelis) attack in order to undermine the army. It’s very clear,” Assad said in an interview with American journal Foreign Affairs.

“That’s why some in Syria joke, ‘How can you say that al-Qaeda doesn’t have an air force? They have the Israeli air force,’” he said.

Also on Tuesday, a report quoted social media activists supporting the ISIL to have said on Twitter that the organization recently executed one of its judges on the grounds that the latter had excessive Takfiri tendencies.

The execution video was one of several produced by the ISIL, starting with the beheading last August of American journalist James Foley and more recently including the burning to death of a captured Jordanian pilot and the beheading of 21 Coptic Christians, who are seen below in a video grab before their execution.

The ISIL militants currently control parts of Syria and Iraq.
