Press TV has interviewed Abayomi Azikiwe, editor at the Pan-African News Wire, from Detroit, to further discuss a recent move by Nigeria-based Boko Haram Takfiri group to pledge allegiance to the ISIL Takfiri militants controlling parts of Iraq and Syria.

The political commentator argues that the vicious ISIL-Boko Haram alliance poses serious threats to peace and security in the entire African continent.

He highlighted media reports that Boko Haram militants have already launched several cross-border attacks in recent months and are constantly attempting to sneak into neighboring countries.

Azikiwe also calls for a regional response to tackle Boko Haram, saying that the years-long militancy has increasingly threatened Nigeria and its neighbors.

The analyst also hails joint efforts by some neighboring countries such as Cameroon and Chad who are assisting the Abuja government in its struggles to halt to advance of Boko Haram Takfiris near the Nigerian border.

The analyst concludes by saying that the African nations should help Nigeria swiftly counter the terror threats posed by the Boko Haram to the countries in the troubled region.
