Palestinians condemn ISIL despite Israeli propaganda offensive

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu

There have been repeated attempts by Israeli politicians and media to conflate the terrorist group ISIL with the resistance group Hamas, and by extension Palestinians.

Palestinian factions have condemned Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s attempts to tarnish the image of Palestinian resistance groups by equating them with ISIL.

ISIL is seen as Israel's key ally in hampering the creation of a Palestinian state.

Netanyahu has had a record of promoting the propaganda equating Hamas with ISIL.

He has tweeted “Hamas is ISIS” after the video of Foley’s beheading aired. In a speech addressed to the family of Steven Sotloff in the Summer, he called Hamas and ISIS the “tentacles of a violent Islamist terrorism.”

However, Palestinians have always expressed their condemnation of ISIL, more recently shown by Palestinian Christians mourning ISIL’s murder of 21 Egyptian Copts in Libya.
