Israeli women have staged a protest rally in East al-Quds (Jerusalem) to show their anger at the aggressive and criminal attitude of politicians in Tel Aviv toward Palestinians.

According to reports on Friday, thousands of women gathered outside the Israeli parliament, Knesset, in East al-Quds, calling on the regime’s authorities to adopt a peaceful approach to deal with the Palestinian issue.

The protesters carried anti-war placards and chanted, “We choose life” and “We will vote for a peace deal,” referring to the upcoming parliamentary elections due to be held in the occupied Palestinian territories on March 17.

They also lashed out at Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu for the regime’s atrocious crimes against Palestinians during the deadly offensive on the Israeli-besieged Gaza Strip in 2014.

“We’ve suffered through enough wars,” said a demonstrator, adding, “Among us are women who will raise the next generation of soldiers who will be forced to go to war. It’s enough!”

The rally was staged by the Women Wage Peace organization which was founded after Israel’s deadly military offensive on Gaza last summer. The relatives of some of the Israeli soldiers, who had taken part in the latest assault, also attended the demo.

“We’re the only non-partisan organization which is working on the ground to bring new hope for peace, and bust the myth that there is no one we can talk to about it,” said Michal Shimar, a founder of the organization.

“I don’t want to see anymore of this war against the youth, with 18- or 20-year-old Israeli soldiers on one side and Palestinian children on the other,” said Amal Rihan, another member of the group.

This is while the right-wing Likud party and the center-left Zionist Union, the major rivals in the March 17 elections, have turned a blind eye to the Palestinian issue during their electoral campaign.

Israel launched a 50-day war on the Gaza Strip in July 2014. Over 2,140 Palestinians, including 577 children, were killed in the Israeli onslaught. Over 11,100 others, including 3,374 children, 2,088 women and 410 elderly people, were also injured.

The assault also destroyed thousands of homes, leaving around 170,000 Palestinians displaced.

Netanyahu has come under sharp criticism by many Israeli officials, including members of his own coalition, after reaching a truce deal with the Palestinian resistance groups on August 26, 2014.

Many in Israel believe that the regime has failed to establish a clear victory in the offensive, which took a heavy economic toll on Tel Aviv and killed nearly 70 Israeli soldiers.
