Protesters in New York denounce Netanyahu’s address to Congress

The protesters gathered outside the headquarters of FOX New in New York.

A group of demonstrators have gathered outside the headquarters of FOX News in New York to denounce Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s upcoming Congress speech.

Carrying Palestinian flags, the crowd gathered outside the headquarters of the News Corporation, the owners of FOX and Sky News, despite heavy wind and snowfall on Sunday.

Among the protesters, civil rights organizer Larry Holmes of the Peoples Power Assembly described Netanyahu and his message as racist.

“It’s an insult to every descent freedom-loving person on the planet,” Holmes said. “His message is war on the oppressed.”

Netanyahu will deliver his speech to Congress on Tuesday upon an earlier invitation by US House Speaker John Boehner.

He is expected to use the speech against a possible nuclear deal between Iran and P5+1 countries -- the United States, Britain, France, China, and Russia -- plus Germany.

“Netanyahu represents the extreme right-wing of the Zionist movement and we want to just send a message to him that he is not welcome here,” activist John Fletcher told Press TV.

He added that the Republicans are trying to undermine President Obama’s negotiations with Iran and they are trying to campaign for war against Iran.

The Israeli prime minister on Sunday arrived in Washington DC, where he is scheduled to speak at the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC) lobbying group on Monday.
