Authorities in Denmark have charged another individual in the recent twin attacks in the capital of Copenhagen earlier this month.

According to Danish judicial authorities, the Copenhagen district court on Saturday accused an 18-year-old man, who had been arrested on Friday, of helping the gunman in the attacks obtain a bulletproof vest and a knife.

“He is accused of helping the attacker and will be detained for 26 days,” said Jens Stausboell, a spokesman for the court.

The hearing was held behind closed doors, Denmark’s Ritzau news agency reported. The young man denied the charges during the hearing.

Danish public broadcaster DR identified the man as the younger brother of gunman Omar Abdel Hamid El-Hussein.

Two other suspects had been detained shortly after the fatal attacks, and were charged with giving shelter to El-Hussein after the first attack and helping him obtain and get rid of weapons.

El-Hussein, in two separate shootings on February 14 and February 15, killed one person and wounded three police officers in an attack on a Copenhagen café hosting a debate attended by controversial Swedish cartoonist, Lars Vilks. Hours later, a synagogue was attacked by the gunman, leaving one person dead and two policemen injured.

He was killed by police in a shootout after the second attack.

Two other men, according the 18-year-old, were detained shortly after the fatal attacks, charged with giving shelter to El-Hussein after the first attack and helping him obtain and get rid of weapons.
