US ‘wants to demolish Putin’ by crisis in Ukraine: Peter Koenig

An analyst says all the US wants in Ukraine is to demolish the name of Russian President Vladimir Putin.

A geopolitical analyst believes that the United States wants to demolish Russian President Vladimir Putin, who is trying to resolve the Ukraine crisis peacefully.

All Washington wants “to do is to demolish Russia, demolish the name of President Putin, who has been extraordinary in his diplomacy,” former World Bank staff Peter Koenig told Press TV in a phone interview on Sunday.

He believed that Putin tried to “arrange an agreement between various parties and specially to remain peaceful.”

“That’s not what the United States really wants,” he said. “They want to take the full grasp of Ukraine.”

“The United States actually caused this Nazi coup in Kiev a year ago,” said Koenig.

Ukraine’s mainly Russian-speaking regions of Donetsk and Lugansk in the east have witnessed deadly clashes between pro-Russia forces and the Ukrainian army since Kiev launched military operations to silence pro-Moscow protests in mid-April 2014.

Violence intensified later in May after the two flashpoint regions held local referendums in which their residents voted overwhelmingly in favor of independence from Ukraine and joining the Russian Federation.

Earlier this month, a group of US senators, including Chairman of US Senate Committee on Armed Services John McCain, urged President Barack Obama’s administration to supply Kiev with lethal arms.

This came as the US and its Western allies accuse Moscow of sending troops into eastern Ukraine in support of the pro-Russian forces.

Moscow, however, denies any involvement. It also has warned the US against sending weapons to Ukraine, saying the move would cause “colossal damage” to ties between the two countries.
