Australian hosts have beaten the United Arab Emirates (UAE) to make their way to the final match of the AFC Asian Cup 2015.

The Socceroos managed to overpower UAE 2-0 at the Newcastle Stadium on Tuesday thanks to the goals from Trent Sainsbury and Jason Davidson in the first half.

The two internationals scored in the third and 16th minute of a match, which saw the Persian Gulf outfit defend all through the game in front of their goal.

The UAE will now face Iraq in the consolation game on Friday. They are known as the surprise package of the Asian games after they kicked Japan out in the quarterfinals.

Australia, ascending to the finals for the second successive time, is scheduled to play against the two-time champion, South Korea, at stadium Australia on Saturday.

AFC Asian Cup 2015 opened on January 9 and will run until January 31. The 16th edition of the cup saw thrilling matches and outstanding goals with many experts counting it as one of the best ever.

Iran was also among the last eight and had a high chance of winning the prestigious continental contest. However, a 6-7 defeat to Iraq in the penalty shootouts booked Carlos Queiroz men out of the race.
