At least four civilians have been killed and dozens injured in several mortar attacks carried out by foreign-backed terrorists in Syria.

Two mortar raids on al-Zablatani neighborhood in the Syrian capital, Damascus, killed 3 civilians and wounded 11 others on Saturday, a police source said.

Another civilian was killed and many others injured when rocket shells landed on a number of villages in Syria’s central province of Homs.

Terrorists positioned in Tal Dahab and Kafar Laha villages fired the rockets, sources in Homs said.

Syria conflict

Syria has been grappling with a deadly crisis since March 2011. The violence fueled by Takfiri groups has so far claimed the lives of over 200,000 people, according to reports.

New figures show that over 76,000 people, including thousands of children, lost their lives in Syria last year.

Western powers and their regional allies - especially Qatar, Saudi Arabia and Turkey - are supporting the militants operating in Syria.

The government of Assad has vowed to push ahead with its efforts to root out terrorism in the country and establish national reconciliation.

The ISIL terror group, with members from several Western countries, controls parts of Syria and neighboring Iraq, and has been carrying out horrific acts of violence such as public decapitations and crucifixions against all communities, including Shias, Sunnis, Kurds and Christians.
