Civilian killed, 6 injured in Damascus mortar attack

A civilian was killed and six others wounded in a mortar attack on Mazzeh area of Damascus.

A civilian has been killed and six others have been wounded after foreign-backed terrorists fired rockets and mortar shells in the southwest of the Syrian capital, Damascus.

The attack took place in the capital's Mazzeh area, said the Syrian Arab News Agency, adding that one of the injured is reportedly in serious condition.

The attack also caused material damage in the area.

Earlier in the day, a police source said at least four citizens wounded in the terrorist attacks were transferred to nearby hospitals.

Terrorists also targeted the areas of Rabwa and Mazzeh in Damascus with six mortar shells on Wednesday, causing material loss.

Syria has been gripped by deadly unrest since 2011. According to reports, the Western powers and their regional allies - especially Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and Turkey - are supporting the militants operating inside Syria.

The violence fueled by Takfiri groups has so far claimed the lives of over 200,000 people, according to reports.
