Jeb Bush to attack Hillary as candidate of ‘the past’

Former Florida Governor Jeb Bush

Potential Republican presidential contender Jeb Bush says he will attack likely Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton as a candidate of “the past”.

Bush made the remarks at a meeting with Republican lobbyists in Washington on Tuesday, a Republican donor who met with him told the Washington Examiner.

Bush said he expected Clinton’s campaign for the 2016 presidential elections to “be a campaign of the past dating back to what happened in the 1990s” while his “will be candidacy of future”, according to the unnamed attendee.

“His whole message is going to be that you’ve got to lift people up. You can’t have a successful campaign that is focused on people who are doing well economically,” said the source who took part in the afternoon event, attended by 40 mostly veteran Republican operatives, many with ties to the Bush family political network.

Jeb’s remarks are reminiscent of those by another potential Republican candidate, Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker, who told the Republican National Committee’s winter meeting last week that the party could only defeat the former secretary of state under President Barack Obama with a candidate that has a “new, fresh approach”.
