A new poll shows that most New Yorkers are embarrassed by the New York City’s mayoral race, which is dominated by sex scandals of two candidates Anthony Weiner and Eliot Spitzer.

The Siena Research Institute poll found that 68 percent of state voters and 62 percent of New York City voters do not like the national attention that the two candidates are attracting and just want to forget about them.

Just 16 percent of voters said the attention is “no big deal”, while 8 percent found it even “entertaining”.

Democrat Wiener who is running for mayor set a record 80-percent unfavorable vote haunted by sexting scandals that drove him out of Congress in 2011.

The number of women Weiner sexted stood at 13 -- three of them after he left Congress.

“If you give me the chance, I will fight for you and your family every single day,” Weiner said in his latest television ad.

Spitzer, also a Democrat, who is looking to return as the city’s comptroller after he was forced to resign in 2008 amid a prostitution scandal, has a slightly better rating.

When he left office in 2008 his unfavorable rating was 79 percent. Now 59 percent of voters view him unfavorable.
