Iran's national soccer team's friendly match against the selected Basque squad has been canceled by the Basque Football Federation (FVF).

The Basque Football Federation sent a formal letter to Iran's Football Federation (IFF) on Friday night to announce the suspension of the match.

Iran was scheduled to fly to Frankfurt on Sunday morning and then fly to Bilbao in the afternoon.

The Iranian soccer team, placed in the 43rd position in the FIFA ranking, has played a number of friendlies to prepare itself for a better performance in the 2010 World Cup.

Ali Daei's men are scheduled to clash with South Korea in Group B of the final Asian qualifying round on February 11.

Iran is competing against Saudi Arabia, North Korea, the UAE and South Korea in Group B of the event.
