Iran's Ambassador to Iraq Hassan Kezemi-Qomi says an Iraqi committee has been formed to expel the terrorist group MKO from the country.

The Iraqi cabinet has passed a legislation that calls for the expulsion of the terrorist Mujahedin-e-Khalq (MKO or MEK) from Iraq as soon as possible, the Iranian envoy told ISNA on Wednesday.

Iraq's transitional government has also urged the expulsion of the MKO from the country, citing Iraq's constitution which bans the presence or activities of any terrorist group inside its territory.

Kazemi said the Red Cross is currently engaged in the case and that Iraqi people and their government are determined to send members of the MKO out of Iraq.

Nearly 500 MKO members have disbanded from the terrorist organization over the past three years and returned to Iran with the assistance of the Red Cross and the Red Crescent, the Iranian envoy said.

Kazemi did not announce any likely future meeting between Iran and the United States over Iraqi security.
