Expo 2024: Iran’s door to international markets

Foreign participants visit Iran Expo 2024 at the Tehran International Permanent Fairground.

The 6th export exhibition in Tehran, known as Iran Expo 2024, is a golden opportunity to display and attract global customers for Iranian goods and services, as well as introduce the country’s culture, art and scientific ability.

It gives Iranian industrialists and knowledge-based companies a unique capacity and opportunity to introduce themselves to the global target markets and international customers.

The exhibition, held from April 27 to May 1, also provides a unique platform to show Iranian culture and civilization to the foreign participants and paves the way for development of cultural and scientific diplomacy.

Exhibitions worldwide are one of the best ways to expand trade and grow economic exchanges in the countries that host them.

Expo 2024 is a unique platform to introduce Iran's industrial power as well as its unknown market to businessmen, industrialists, and more importantly, state officials and economic and political policy makers.

The Tehran exhibition, held as part of the government policy to increase non-oil exports and expand foreign investment and trade, hosts more than 2,000 businessmen from 85 countries and more than 2,500 political and economic officials from 119 countries around the world.

According to Mehdi Zaighmi, head of Trade Development Organization and Deputy Minister of Industry, Mining and Trade, Iran had received more than 3,500 requests from 103 countries for participation, but it was only able to accommodate about 2,000 traders from 85 countries.

The expo includes six production groups consisting of food, agriculture and fisheries; industry, handwoven carpets, handicrafts and tourism; medicine, medical equipment and laboratory equipment; chemicals; technical engineering services and petrochemicals.

The Trade Development Organization of the Ministry of Industry, Mining, and Trade expects more than $4 billion trade agreements and contracts to be signed at the exhibition against $450 million last year.

It will also provide an opportunity to identify the capacities and the potentials of increasing Iran’s exports, and open the door to new markets.

The display of export potentials and Iranian companies is hoped to boost production and realize the “Surge in Production through People’s Participation” slogan of the year if the opportunities are properly exploited.

One of the basic goals of this year's exhibition is national branding with a focus on attracting foreign investment and increasing influence and political relations.

More than 200 packages have been prepared to be offered to foreign investors, while business meetings with foreign investors have been put on the itinerary of the event.

Another unique feature of the exhibition is the presence of more than 700 Iranian knowledge-based companies and the presentation of more than 1,500 knowledge-based products, creating a unique opportunity to expand scientific diplomacy.

Iran’s brilliant scientific achievements and their industrialization in recent years have provided a unique capacity for the growth of the country’s exports. Expo 2024 will definitely play a significant role in the leap of knowledge-based companies by introducing their products and achievements to the world market.

Expos in the world, apart from the economic benefits which they entail in and also the expansion of international trade routes, have led to the development of political relations and bargaining power of the organizers of the exhibitions.

Another goal of the exhibition is to introduce Iranian culture, art and handicrafts, which requires the annual expo be hold in other cities and provincial centers of the country such as Isfahan, Tabriz, Mashhad, Shiraz and other capitals of Iranian culture and civilization in the coming years.
